The Rumbling is rooted in the tragedy of Ymir Fritz and her daughters, whose power was weaponized into the three concentric walls encircling Paradis. For over a century, these fortifications were not stone, but millions of Colossal Titans frozen in a petrified slumber, waiting for a signal that never came until it was too late. To shatter this stasis requires a Founding Titan holder with the authority to command all Subjects of Ymir through Paths. Initially, King Fritz wielded this power not as an active weapon, but as a threat of mutual destruction; he vowed that if Paradis were ever attacked, the walls would crumble and the Rumbling would begin. This promise kept the world in check through fear alone. The dynamic shattered when Eren Jaeger inherited the Founding Titan. By touching a Titan of royal blood, he unlocked the dormant giants' full potential, turning the island’s defense into its greatest offense.

Then came the march, a tide of flesh and bone stretching beyond the curve of the planet, stepping with such force that islands vanished beneath their footfalls.
