The Jaw Titan is one of the Nine Titans that can shift between human and Titan form. Its powers are inherited by consuming a previous shifter, a process that curses the new holder to live only 13 more years. If the power is not passed on before death, it transfers to an Eldian baby born shortly thereafter. She later used this form during the events inside Wall Rose, where her ability to transform allowed her to navigate complex terrain.

In Their Own Story

During the conflict within Wall Rose, the nature of the Jaw Titan was revealed through Ymir, a graduate of the Survey Corps who transformed into a sentient shifter. Her emergence shocked the ranks as she displayed the unique mobility and predatory instincts associated with this form. Later, Reiner Braun and Bertholt Hoover were exposed as the Armored and Colossal Titans respectively, while Ymir willingly fled with them to protect her friend Historia Reiss. In the battle for Shiganshina, the Survey Corps faced a coalition of Titans including the Beast, Colossal, Armored, and Cart forms. The form's speed proved vital for skirmishes where rapid movement and the destruction of fortifications were required, distinguishing it from the slower, heavier shifters.
