Historia Reiss
From the girl who smiled through pain to the queen who chose her own path.
Historia Reiss, formerly known as Krista Lenz, is a pivotal character whose journey reshapes the political landscape of Paradis Island. Her arc transforms from a supportive friend hiding behind a false persona to a queen who defies destiny. This evolution is marked by her refusal to sacrifice herself for others, leading to her declaration of living as Historia Reiss rather than the obedient Krista Lenz.

Lore & Background
Historia's identity crisis centers on her rejection of a life defined by duty and sacrifice. Initially, she presents herself as Krista Lenz, claiming to live for others because she believes no one else needs her. However, this facade crumbles when Rod Reiss attempts to manipulate her into becoming a Titan to consume Eren Yeager and reclaim the Founding Titan's power. In a defining moment of rebellion within the chapel, Historia smashes the vial of Titan spinal fluid, refusing to let herself be used as a tool for political restoration. This act forces Rod to consume the serum himself, transforming him into an Abnormal Titan who is subsequently killed by Historia and the Survey Corps. Following this, she is declared Queen, marking her transition from a victim of royal schemes to a leader who asserts her own will.
In Their Own Story
The narrative shifts dramatically when two new Survey Corps graduates, Ymir and Krista Lenz, reveal their true identities: Ymir as the Jaw Titan and Krista as Historia Reiss. This revelation occurs shortly after Pure Titans mysteriously appear within Wall Rose alongside the Beast Titan. Historia's royal blood becomes the center of a desperate struggle involving Kenny Ackerman and the Military Police. When Rod Reiss kidnaps Eren to force Historia into eating him, she breaks free from her conditioning. She shatters the vial of spinal fluid meant for her transformation, causing Rod to transform instead. In the chaos that follows, Historia delivers the killing blow to her father, ending his reign and securing her place as Queen. Later, during the attack on Liberio orchestrated by Eren and Zeke, the story continues with the revelation that Paradis is an isolated island of Eldians, not the last human civilization.
Reader's Guide
She does not possess Titan shifting abilities herself; rather, her significance lies in her royal bloodline, which is essential for activating the Founding Titan if consumed by another shifter like Eren. Unlike characters who inherit powers from the Nine Titans, Historia's power stems from her lineage and her decision to rule Paradis. She survives the final conflicts, including the battle against Marley and the Rumbling, remaining alive in the post-timeskip era as Queen.
